I.amN.otD.eadY.et children so listen up!

In the year 2023

Every new year I begin with a promise to be more consistent when writing. Writing is, after all, a discipline as much as it is the need to empty my brain of generated words, sentences and paragraphs interpreted daily though my eyes.

And, every year, I start off fine, and then when summer rolls around, I’m outta here. You can’t really blame anyone for disappearing when North Dakota’s weather becomes warm. After spending winters shoveling snow and sleeping because the days are dark, one needs to get out and enjoy the warmth as much as possible.

Recently an old friend suggested a podcast called Wiser than Me by Julie Louis-Dreyfus. It’s amazing. After further text messages, she reminded me I had started this blog some years ago called “I.A.D.Y. Or I Am Not Dead Yet” geared towards my children who have no time to listen to me with their small children, and busy lives.

It was my wish to share some things about me and my life and the wisdom of growing older through family history and recipes and stories before my final snowstorm in the winter of my life.

Well I got busy with crocheting, gardening or maybe work and let it go.

It was still out on the web with its four blog posts. I changed the password to get back into the site and decided to resurrect for the year twenty-ought-twenty-three. I had this song going on in my head; you know it if you are as old as I am — “In the Year 2525. ” It’s a song about the demise of man from the 60s. A fun song with lyrics here.

I’ll never live until that year, but this has been a year like none other and it reminds me of that song.

Writing is as much a coping mechanism as it is a record of my crazy thoughts. I will share with you ranges from deeply personal and dark to humorous and informative. I am ahead of the game as I have been working on my books and journaling this unexpected and very heartbreaking year — 2023.

I ain’t dead yet (so stick with me).
